Job Description
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Mechanical Component Installer (Technician
A) to join our H145 Final Assembly Line team based in Columbus, MS. This is a 2nd shift position with a work schedule of Monday–Thursday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM and Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
- Perform mechanical removals and installations on assigned aircraft, parts, and sub‑assemblies.
- Assist other technicians as needed.
- Work in a safe and productive environment in the eastern border of Mississippi.
- Perform fabrication, assembly, installation, repair, replacement, adjustment, and alignment of parts and components.
- Conduct functional checks of systems for proper functioning.
- Execute work from three‑dimensional blueprints, sketches, diagrams, technical manuals, work orders, inspection reports, and other documentation.
- Diagnose malfunctions or failures on aircraft systems including equipment furnishings, fire protection, fuel system, hydraulics, landing gear, doors, fuselage, stabilizer, rotor systems, and power plant controls.
- Minimum of four years related experience in mechanical installations in industrial or automotive settings.
- Knowledge of mechanical blueprints and drawings.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Technical training in the aviation or mechanical field such as automotive is highly desirable.
- Onsite requirement: 95% onsite.
- Vision: able to see and read computer screens, documents, and engineering drawings (100%).
- Hearing: able to participate in conversations and hear production floor safety warnings (100%).
- Speaking: able to communicate and participate in meetings (100%).
- Equipment Operation: able to operate office and production tools such as hydraulic lifts and electronic equipment (100%).
- Carrying & Lifting: able to carry or lift up to 30 lbs/14 kg (100%).
- Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and equipment (50%).
- Sitting: able to sit for extended periods in meetings or while working on the computer (10%).
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving (10%).
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor (80%).
- Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice (5%).
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces (50%).
- Personal Protective Equipment: required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and protective gloves as required by site or customer.
- Administrative position only: steel‑toed shoes and appropriate hearing/eye protection when visiting the shop floor.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (U.S. citizen, green card holder, or person covered under our existing ITAR license).
