Job Description

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Quality Inspector to join our Quality Assurance Team in Columbus, MS. The role ensures compliance with Airbus Helicopters Inc. policies, procedures, and FAA/EASA regulations. Responsibilities include preliminary, hidden damage, in‑process, and final inspections; receiving inspections; detailed inspections of parts, materials, paint, backshop activities, functional and dimensional tests; and product verification for airworthiness.

Responsibilities

Inspection (60%)

  • Perform required technical inspections to accept or reject incoming material, airframes, and components
  • Conduct in‑process inspections for components in electrical backshops, manufacturing, composites, MRO, and paint shop
  • Execute detailed inspections of manufactured components, including dimensional checks and acoustic tap testing
  • Inspect airframe structures for cracks, corrosion, damage, and improper assembly
  • Determine proper shimming, joining, and rivet hardware according to design drawings
  • Detect hidden damage during shipping, receiving, or manufacturing inspections
  • Verify aircraft system wiring harnesses, connectors, and electrical terminations per design drawings
  • Quarantine non‑conforming components and assemblies identified during inspections
  • Ensure measuring and test equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Perform stock inspections and purges for possible non‑conforming or suspected unapproved material
  • Evaluate and dispose of sales returns
  • Select product samples and validate conformity to approved drawings and manuals
  • Conduct in‑process and final quality inspections for compliance across maintenance, repair, modification, rework, and overhaul
  • Perform conformity inspections for STC development projects, PMA parts, and structural & electrical components
  • Assess multiple airframe components for correct fit, form, and function
  • Validate disposition of parts or repaired components routed to shop floor, warehouse, or suppliers
  • Qualify dynamic component parts using visual inspection and precision measurement methods
  • Observe and validate instrument connections, functional tests, and adjustments of aircraft radios, navigational systems, and flight control systems
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable inspections, life‑limited or cycle‑limited components, airworthiness directives, and service bulletins
  • Verify testing for ELT, transponders, altimeters, airspeed indicators, and air data computers per 14 CFR Parts 91, 135, and 43

Documentation (30%)

  • Proper tagging, identification, and airworthiness of parts released to Airframe, Engines, and Accessories
  • Match quantity, part number, and serial number of items received with procurement data, purchase orders, and specifications
  • Create, distribute, track, and dispose of the monthly Shelf Life Expiration Date (SLED) report in SAP
  • Generate QN/NCs for non‑conforming material and coordinate resolution with Quality Engineers
  • Ensure all materials have required documentation (8130‑3, EASA Form, Certificate of Conformance)
  • Process Goods Receipts during material receiving
  • Document maintenance actions for airframe, engine, accessories, and components per FAA and EASA regulations and company procedures
