Lead Quality at the Front End of Aerospace Manufacturing

We’re partnering with a growing aerospace and defense manufacturer seeking an experienced Quality Manager – Incoming Inspection to lead its incoming inspection operation in Columbus, Mississippi.

This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity for a quality professional who understands AS9100, incoming inspection, engineering drawings, GD&T, nonconformance management, supplier quality, and precision measurement
.

You’ll lead the team responsible for ensuring that incoming materials, components, and assemblies meet all engineering, contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements before they ever reach production.

What You’ll Do

As the Quality Manager – Incoming Inspection
, you will oversee the people, processes, and quality systems supporting incoming inspection and supplier acceptance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the Incoming Inspection team
    , including staffing, training, development, performance management, and daily work prioritization.
  • Ensure incoming materials, components, and assemblies meet engineering drawings, specifications, purchase order requirements, customer requirements, and contractual standards
    .
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve incoming inspection procedures, work instructions, and processes in accordance with AS9100 and customer requirements.
  • Oversee dimensional and technical inspection activities utilizing CMMs, laser trackers, precision measurement tools, and advanced metrology equipment
    , as applicable.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and inspection requirements
    .
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management to resolve quality issues and prevent production disruptions.
  • Lead incoming nonconformance management
    , including documentation, investigation, disposition coordination, and MRB activities.
  • Support supplier corrective actions, including SCARs, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and verification of effectiveness
    .
  • Help prepare for and support internal, customer, and regulatory audits related to incoming inspection and supplier quality.
  • Monitor and report incoming quality performance, including supplier defects, inspection cycle time, quality trends, and supplier performance metrics
    .
  • Identify opportunities to improve inspection efficiency, reduce the cost of poor quality
    , and improve supplier performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout incoming inspection operations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, security, quality, and export control requirements
    .
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline
    .
  • 5+ years of quality experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of people management or supervisory experience within quality, inspection, or a related function.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and quality management systems
    .
  • Strong understanding of incoming inspection methodologies and quality control processes
    .
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and contractual requirements
    .
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies
    .
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams while managing multiple priorities in a production-driven environment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with CMMs, laser trackers, and advanced metrology systems
    .
  • Supplier quality management or supplier audit experience.
