The Environmental Technician will carry out work orders by the contract on a daily basis. This position is part‑time on‑call at Stennis Space Center.
Responsibilities- Report to work on time daily.
- Carry out work orders by the contract on a daily basis.
- Report all problems and accidents to the supervisor upon discovery, and comply with all rules and regulations on Stennis Space Center property.
- Perform job requirements including, but not limited to the following: clean hard floors, carpets, empty trash, clean stairwells, elevators, entrance ways, perform dusting and polishing, clean drinking fountains, glass and restrooms, etc.
- Secure vehicles and equipment at the end of each shift.
- All assigned work will be performed by the schedule and contract.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of fifteen years experience in Janitorial Services.
- Must have general knowledge of safety procedures in the janitorial workplace.
- Shift work is required and must be flexible during daily working hours.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
- Must have the ability to communicate in the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid Real r’s license.
- Must be able to pass a Pre‑Employment background check and drug screen test.
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to operate and service various rotating equipment.
- Ability to work with computers.
- Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions.
- Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multicultural, team‑oriented environment.
- Lift minimum of 50‑pound load from the ground frequently.
- Must be able to follow instructions and carry out work orders by the contract.
- Ability to distinguish different colors for MSDS‑material safety data sheets purposes and identifying the proper bottle for general cleaning daily.
- Walk six hours per day.
- Bend and stoop six hours per day.
- Work overhead with minimum 20‑pound load.
- Push and pull frequently throughout the day.
- Walk up/down stairs frequently.
- Stand seven hours per day.
- Climb ladders and scaffolding.
- Wear PPE gear six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves).
- Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously.
- Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
