Truck Driver

Overview

The Salvation Army is hiring a Full-Time Truck Driver for the Family Thrift Store, located in Columbus, MS. This is a full-time, in-person role with responsibilities that include driving a Salvation Army truck on scheduled routes to pick up donations and deliver merchandise to customers.

• Drive Salvation Army truck on scheduled routes to pick up donations and/or deliver merchandise to customers in compliance with Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations.
• Lift, carry, load and unload donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.
• Ensure the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.
• Assist in performing work in the thrift store and warehouse as needed.

• Knowledge of the assigned geographical area.
• Ability to organize pick-up tickets and schedule routes efficiently to save time and gasoline.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• One year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Valid State Driver's License.

Work requires daily driving with exposure to outdoor conditions and weather variations (rain, cold, snow, heat) and typical work environment factors such as noise, dust, and dirt.
