As a Bakery Clerk at Columbus IGA, you play an important role in providing customers with fresh, high-quality bakery products and exceptional customer service. You are responsible for supporting daily bakery operations through product preparation, packaging, stocking, merchandising, and maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards. This position helps create an inviting bakery experience by ensuring products are fresh, well-presented, and readily available to customers.

Success in this role requires attention to detail, teamwork, efficiency, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

This position is available as either full-time or part-time.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Product Preparation and Merchandising
  Assists with preparing, packaging, labeling, stocking, and displaying bakery products to maintain freshness, presentation standards, and product availability.
• Customer Service and Sales Support
  Provides courteous and knowledgeable customer service by assisting with product selection, answering questions, and supporting a positive shopping experience.
• Quality Assurance and Product Freshness
  Monitors bakery product quality through proper rotation, handling, and removal of unsatisfactory items to ensure department standards are consistently maintained.
• Sanitation, Food Safety, and Compliance
  Maintains a clean and organized work environment while following food safety procedures, sanitation standards, and company policies related to product handling and workplace safety.
• Teamwork and Operational Support
  Works collaboratively with bakery and store team members to support daily operations, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and maintain department productivity.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

• The position does not have any regular responsibility for overseeing or supervising the work of other team members.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to provide friendly, professional customer service in a retail environment.
• Basic knowledge of or ability to learn bakery operations, food handling, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
