Customer Service Specialist - Rising City, NE PURPOSE

As a Customer Service Specialist at Central Valley Ag, you will be someone customers and location employees rely on to keep daily business moving. You will support grain and agronomy operations by weighing and grading grain, processing billing and customer transactions, maintaining accurate records, answering customer questions, and supporting the administrative needs of the Rising City location.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys helping people, takes pride in accuracy, learns new systems, and stays organized while managing customer activity and changing priorities. Previous customer service, office administration, billing, bookkeeping, or agricultural experience is helpful but not required.

Whether you are beginning your career or looking for a dependable long‑term role, this position provides valuable training and exposure to grain, agronomy, customer accounts, inventory, contracts, and location operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides professional and timely customer service by phone, email, and face‑to‑face interaction.
  • Serves as a liaison between customers, location employees, management, and other CVA departments.
  • Safely and accurately weighs and grades inbound and outbound grain.
  • Performs billing for grain and agronomy products and services.
  • Receives and enters accounts receivable payments.
  • Reconciles and balances the cash drawer.
  • Balances accounts payable statements and assists with resolving discrepancies.
  • Records company transfers and maintains accurate customer, inventory, and transaction records.
  • Assists with monthly inventories and the reconciliation of inventory variances.
  • Responds to customer questions and concerns and works with management to provide practical and timely solutions.
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of CVA products, services, programs, and credit policies.
  • Assists with internal and external company mailings.
  • Processes and distributes incoming mail.
  • Maintains organized filing and record‑keeping systems.
  • Complies with Central Valley Ag credit policies and protects confidential customer and company information.
  • Upholds all Central Valley Ag policies.
  • Participates in required safety training and actively promotes a safe work environment.
  • Performs other duties and assists with special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in customer service, office administration, banking, bookkeeping, agriculture, logistics, or a related area is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and establish effective working relationships with customers and employees.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to respond to questions and concerns in a helpful and professional manner.
  • Comfort working with numbers, payments, billing, reconciliations, and detailed records.
  • Ability to learn grain grading procedures, CVA business processes, and software systems.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and manage multiple responsibilities within established timelines.
  • Ability to remain organized and accurate while managing interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Uses logic and practical reasoning to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to use mathematics to perform calculations and verify transactions.
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting practices.
  • Ability to read, understand, and accurately complete business documents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to accomplish shared goals.
  • Demonstrates self‑motivation, dependability, and close attention to detail.
  • Works in a way that demonstrates safety is a priority and promotes a safe environment for employees and customers.
