Description: Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing, and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers, and industrials throughout the U.S. With experience ranging from 4.16 kV to 765 kV, ECI is opening an office in Nebraska and needs a Substation Project Manager to help start and grow a new office.
Responsibilities- Conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization.
- Scoping, budgeting, scheduling, planning, executing, monitoring, and reporting of substation projects and proposals.
- Oversee project teams of engineering, design, drafter, and support staff.
- Execute ECI's quality control procedures, ensuring best‑in‑class project execution.
- Coordinate with ECI’s subject matter experts (Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection, Civil Engineering, Communications, Transmission Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right‑of‑Way, and Project Management/Controls) to ensure successful execution.
- Serve as the primary interface with clients and other stakeholders and provide technical mentorship and training to project design staff.
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of project engineering experience.
- 2+ years of demonstrated project management and leadership experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization, planning, and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Willingness and ability to meet fast‑paced project schedules.
- PE license and PMP certification preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of power engineering principles and applicable codes, standards, and design tools.
- Ability to direct and oversee multiple technical disciplines in substation projects.
- Subject to client‑mandated drug and background checks; occasional travel/driving required; comply with auto insurance requirements.
