We are partnering with a growing construction organization seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering operations while supporting the successful execution of complex construction projects.

This is more than a traditional engineering management role.

The successful candidate will serve as the technical leader for the organization, overseeing engineering execution while partnering closely with operations, project management, estimating, procurement, and field leadership. You'll have the opportunity to influence project strategy, develop engineering talent, improve processes, and help shape the future direction of the engineering department.

About the Role

As the Engineering Manager, you'll oversee engineering activities from project planning through completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client expectations, company standards, and regulatory requirements.

This position combines technical leadership, project oversight, resource management, and cross functional collaboration while serving as a key member of the leadership team.

What You'll Do Engineering Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineering professionals
  • Establish performance expectations while supporting employee growth and development
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
Project Execution
  • Oversee engineering support throughout all phases of construction projects
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables to support project schedules
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, engineering revisions, and design clarifications
  • Identify project risks and implement practical solutions
Technical Leadership
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, and company quality expectations
  • Review engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams, field personnel, and leadership
  • Evaluate value engineering opportunities that improve constructability, quality, and project performance
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, Procurement, and Operations
  • Collaborate with owners, architects, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Participate in project planning meetings, scheduling sessions, and client presentations
Process Improvement
  • Develop engineering standards and best practices
  • Improve engineering workflows and document control processes
  • Implement technology solutions that improve efficiency and collaboration
  • Monitor engineering performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Support engineering staffing and workforce planning
  • Monitor engineering productivity and resource utilization
  • Assist with project budgeting through design optimization and value engineering initiatives
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline
  • Seven or more years of progressive engineering or construction experience
  • Three or more years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience supporting multiple commercial, industrial, civil, or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project sequencing, scheduling, and project delivery
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Background supporting design build or construction management projects
  • Experience improving engineering processes and operational efficiency
Technical Skills

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
