This is a full-time, on-site Field Engineer role based in Columbus, NE. The Field Engineer will support solar project construction, commissioning, and operations by providing technical expertise in the field, including equipment installation oversight, system testing, and performance verification. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, coordinating with project managers, contractors, and vendors, and documenting field activities, test results, and corrective actions.
The role involves delivering technical support to operations and maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of field processes and procedures. The Field Engineer will also assist with project scheduling, resource coordination, and communication of progress and risks to stakeholders.
- Candidates should possess strong Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills for resolving mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in the field.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication and Field Service skills to interact with project teams, customers, and vendors and to represent the company professionally on-site.
- Candidates should possess Project Management capabilities, including task prioritization, coordination of field activities, and basic scheduling and reporting.
- Relevant experience in solar, renewable energy, or industrial power systems is beneficial, along with familiarity with electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or related field) or equivalent technical experience is preferred, with proficiency in using diagnostic tools and standard office software.
- Commitment to safety, willingness to work in outdoor construction environments, and ability to travel or work flexible hours as project needs require are important for success in this role.
