Job Description Summary
Responsible for day to day operating, monitoring, and repair of glass cutting machines in line with auto glass packing equipment and ultrasonic washers. The associate must work independently and as a team member, actively communicating with workplace teams. Responsibilities include meeting/exceeding production standards, maintaining product quality, and minimizing/preventing equipment downtime. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations.
Regular, punctual attendance is essential. Ability to read, write, and converse in English and Spanish is required. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
- Operate and monitor equipment cycles. Operators have complete responsibility for quality, production, waste, and machine workability/accountability.
- Perform machine set‑up and changeovers.
- Understand and operate inspection & testing equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on cutting machines and equipment.
- Identify and correct dimensional and cosmetic defects according to current QC specifications.
- Record accurate inspection and process data for completed controlled documents/paperwork.
- Tend to the overall cleanliness and organization of the equipment and work area.
- Utilize Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to query, move, validate, and issue material to production orders and machines from rack/storage locations and back to respective locations, ensuring accurate consumption of materials.
- Move raw material to staging areas by forklift, electric pallet jack, or pallet jack.
- Present shift reporting and shift start‑up information to operators, technicians, and supervisors.
- Verify process steps are completed correctly in batch records.
- Read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures.
- Train associates and answer procedural questions to internal and/or external stakeholders as needed.
- Work around potentially hazardous materials/chemicals used to clean areas.
- Wear personal protective equipment required in the job.
- Work around hazardous energy sources (compressed air, electricity, etc.).
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the process.
- Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
- Operate equipment at targeted efficiency and scrap rates.
- Keep equipment and work area clean.
- Produce high‑quality products per manufacturing documents.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
- H.S., Diploma/GED
- 5 years manufacturing experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
- 2 years mechanical/technical experience.
