Job SummaryConducts detailed environmental, electrical, mechanical and physical tests on a variety of passive electrical components assigned by the Reliability Test Lab Operations Supervisor.
Job LocationVishay Dale Electronics, Columbus, NE. The facility is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of resistors and e-beam technology, employing around 600 people.
What You Will Be Doing- Operate sophisticated testing and measurement equipment such as computer‑controlled DC resistance reading stations, computerized multi‑meters with Kelvin fixtures, dielectric withstanding voltage testers, megohm bridges, power supplies, impedance analyzers, environmental chambers, and special test setups/fixtures.
- Use computer terminals to log test requests and product data, read and log test performance data via LAN systems and reading stations, prepare printed copies of completed test reports, and review reports for data completion and accuracy.
- Compose test reports for publication, filling in details such as comments, supplemental information, reference failure notice report numbers, failure analysis report numbers, test temperatures, test equipment asset numbers, and page numbers.
- Acquire proficiency in calculator use for Ohm’s Law and electrical power calculations.
- Coordinate testing by preparing, re‑reading, interpreting, and performing test methods of complex and detailed military, industrial, customer, or Dale/Vishay specifications, requiring significant learning and attention to detail.
- Create workload and test plan schedules, set workload priorities per qualification, lot acceptance, and evaluation test plan needs, and coordinate with the Reliability Test Lab Operations Supervisor.
- Consult with the Special Test Supervisor or Facilities Engineering personnel to set up new, unusual, or unique tests, test sample configurations, or special test filtering.
- Use basic hand tools (soldering iron, pliers, side cutters, exactly knife, screwdriver, wire strippers, thermometers, etc.) for wiring, soldering, and assembly of test apparatus/fixtures, and operate small calculators and computer terminals regularly.
- High School diploma or equivalent with basic mathematics and science courses.
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in English.
- Preferred:
Minimum 1 year of experience in production of electrical components and/or a manufacturing environment. - Preferred:
Basic domain knowledge of the production process for military, industrial, or customer electronic components according to Dale/Vishay specifications or methods.
