Role Overview
As a Metal Finisher, you will operate hand and power tools and/or equipment to grind welds and finish metal parts to company standards. You will report directly to the Operations Manager and ensure all parts meet our high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate hand and power tools to grind welds and finish stainless steel parts to top-tier company standards.
- Utilize a variety of equipment including 4" angle grinders, air tools, polishing pedestals, belt sanders and surfacing equipment.
- Perform stud welding, light assembly, bead blasting, and custom polishing.
- Set up work area for ergonomic part handling, safety, and optimal positioning.
- Conduct visual and touch inspections to catch and correct defects such as dents, scratches, or breaks before parts move to shipping.
- Maintain and clean air tools (including oiling) and keep station orderly.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to match strict part requirements.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Technical certification or diploma from a technical college preferred. - Experience:
At least 1 year of relevant metal‑finishing or fabrication experience. - Skills:
Strong time‑management, problem‑solving, basic mathematics, and ability to read blueprints and tape measures accurately. - Work style:
Dependable, safety‑conscious, and comfortable working alone with little or no direction.
- Activity level:
Standing (40%), walking (40%) and sitting (20%). - Strength:
Ability to lift 25–40 pounds; anything over 40 pounds requires a two‑person lift or assist device. - Environment:
Exposure to weather, extreme cold/heat, wet/humid conditions, loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals. - Frequent actions:
Lifting, transporting, pushing, pulling, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, hearing, near/far acuity, depth perception, color vision, tasting/smelling.
