Test Engineer, Quality Engineering
Job Summary
Conducts detailed environmental, electrical, mechanical and physical tests on a variety of passive electrical components assigned by the Reliability Test Lab Operations Supervisor.
Job LocationVishay Dale Electronics, Columbus, NE. We are one of the largest employers in the Columbus area with approximately 600 employees.
Responsibilities- Operate sophisticated test equipment such as DC Resistance Reading Stations, digital multimeters with Kelvin fixtures, handheld multimeters, dielectric withstand voltage testers, megohm bridges, power supplies, impedance analyzers, environmental chambers, and special test setups/fixtures.
- Use computer terminals to log test requests, product details, and performance data into the LAN system; prepare printed copies of test reports and review them for completeness and accuracy.
- Compose test reports for publication, filling in comments, reference fault notices, failure analysis numbers, test temperatures, equipment asset numbers, and page numbers.
- Perform Ohm’s Law and power calculations with a calculator.
- Coordinate testing schedules, prepare workload plans, and set priorities based on qualification, lot acceptance, and evaluation needs as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
- Consult with the Special Test Supervisor or Facilities Engineering personnel to set up new, unusual, or unique tests, sample configurations, or special test filters.
- Use basic hand tools (soldering iron, pliers, cutters, screwdriver, wire strippers, thermometers) for wiring, soldering, and assembly of test apparatus and fixtures.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including basic mathematics and science courses.
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in English.
- Preferred:
At least 1 year of experience in the production of electrical components or a manufacturing environment. - Preferred:
Basic knowledge of production processes for military, industrial, or commercial electronic components according to Dale/Vishay specifications.
