Work Hours

Part time, 10‑15 hours per week, flexible between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Each attendance requires a minimum of 2 hours and the total weekly commitment will be 10‑15 hours.

General Function

The Lab Technician reports to the Manufacturing Technology Innovation (MTI) Senior Packaging Engineer and collaborates closely with the MTI Packaging Associate Engineer to perform inspections, Experimental Work Orders, Engineering Studies, and Process Development Work.

Essential Functions
  • Perform visual inspections using a microscope or magnified viewer as needed.
  • Measure blister thickness and seal width with calipers and/or micrometer.
  • Enter data into spreadsheets; training may include use of Mini Tab for data analysis.
  • Complete MTI Packaging Lab procedures relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Conduct testing procedures such as Package Drop Testing, Transportation Simulator Testing, Underwater Leak Testing, Altitude Chamber Testing, Package Burst Testing, Peel Force Testing, and Bench‑Top Sealing Operations.
Safety
  • Actively participate in achieving lab safety goals and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Take responsibility for personal safety and observe all safety policies and procedures.
  • Use proper lifting techniques when handling heavy objects.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

High School diploma or GED.

Experience:

Capable of following detailed instructions.

  • Interpersonal skills: work well with others.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Give and receive feedback constructively.
  • Plan and organize job tasks, multitask effectively.
  • Excellent time management and initiative.
  • Flexible, completion‑oriented, self‑motivated, and able to work with minimal guidance.
