Body Shop Technician
Columbus Motor Company is seeking a Body Shop Technician. The technician repairs, refinishes damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and spray painting equipment. The technician will also do dealer prep work.

Responsibilities include staying up to date on the latest repair methods and techniques for the vehicles sold and serviced by the dealership, performing all body and fender repairs according to estimate and supplement as necessary, performing work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, performing welding, soldering, body alignment and oxidizing operations, diagnosing the cause of malfunction and performing needed repair, communicating with parts department to obtain needed parts, examining vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required, advising Body Shop Manager if additional work is needed, using basic mathematical skills to solve simple equations for mixing chemicals, following factory and dealership procedures when performing warranty work, saving and tagging all warranty parts for storage, being familiar with the latest technical bulletins, service manuals and other service publications, attending factory sponsored training classes and keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins, operating all equipment in Body Shop in a safe and productive manner, maintaining his stall in an orderly and clean manner, using discretion in using company materials and supplies, light painting if deemed qualified and necessary by the Manager, ensuring customer's cars are kept clean, documenting all work performed as soon as the job is completed, and understanding and following federal, state and local regulations, such as the disposal of hazardous waste.
Will secure permission from management and write up an RO before doing any work on personal vehicle.
Qualifications include being at least 18 years of age, having a valid driver's license, passing a background check and drug test, having a high school diploma or equivalent, owning tools, having grade 12 with auto body & collision damage repair certificate OR 5 years of practical knowledge within an auto body repair facility, and ASE credentials, preferred.
