Equipment Operator II (Airport) - City of Columbus

This is semiskilled work in the operation of moderately heavy equipment and limited operation of heavy duty street maintenance equipment. An employee in this class is responsible for the operation of a variety of moderately heavy equipment, and some heavy equipment in the construction, maintenance and repairs needed at the Airport. Work is performed under general supervision of the Airport Manager, and the employee exercises some independent judgment in the operation of assigned equipment.

• Operates tractor mower in the removal of weeds
• Operates one-way snow plow in the removal of snow
• Clears tree limbs, operates chippers and dump trucks to remove debris; operates chain saws and various hand tools.
• Trims trees, bushes and weeds to maintain good visibility and sprays weeds.
• Performs daily inspection of all equipment operated and routine maintenance as needed; changes oil and filter, greases equipment, changes tires, and changes blades.
• Performs small repairs on equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance and repairs on airport lighting.
• Performs routine inspections and repairs on city owned building/hangars.

• Experience in the operation of heavy trucks and related automotive equipment.
• Salary Range is $22.55 – $31.20
