Job SummaryResponsible for managing all aspects of ledger and sub‑ledger accounting for AEP, including accounting activity related to the general ledger closing process and coordinating the review and submission of annual and quarterly financial reports (FERC, SEC, GAAP, etc). Support, direct and develop staff employees and contractors.

As the Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting, you’ll lead the preparation and review of AEP’s quarterly and annual financial reports and guide the development of high‑quality disclosures. You’ll shape the controls and reporting frameworks that ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance across the enterprise — from SEC financial statements to stand‑alone financial statement reports.

WhatYou’ll Do
- Manage the preparation and review of SEC and other stand‑alone financial reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8‑K and other SEC filings related to financing activities.
- Oversee the preparation and review of footnotes for FERC Form 1 and 3Q filings.
- Lead the EDGAR and XBRL processes to ensure accurate, timely SEC submissions.
- Stay current on SEC, FASB, and FERC rules and apply new guidance to reporting processes.
- Develop and maintain strong control processes, including those necessary for stand‑alone reports below AEP‑level materiality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships within Accounting and with business partners across AEP.
- Lead and participate in special projects that support strategic initiatives across the organization.
- Foster strong professional relationships with internal and external auditors to support timely review cycles.
- Perform analytical reviews of financial data to identify trends and anomalies.
- Interpret and apply accounting regulations and new pronouncements to reporting activities.
- Champion initiatives to identify, develop, and implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Foster development of staff through coaching and training.
- Promote a positive, collaborative team environment that supports continuous learning and operational excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business with an Accounting concentration.
- 5 years of accounting experience required.
- Experience in SEC reporting preferred.
- CPA or progress towards certification preferred.
- Exposure to and familiarity with the utility industry preferred.
- Public accounting experience and/or experience supporting external audits is preferred.

- Salary Range between $117,000-$140,000
