Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to manage job cost accounting across multiple active projects while supporting full-cycle accounting functions. This role partners closely with Project Managers, site teams, and the Controller to ensure accurate job cost reporting, timely AIA billing/bank draws, and strong month-end close processes.
This position is ideal for someone with construction or real estate accounting experience who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems, and growing into a key financial leader within the company.
What You’ll Be Responsible ForProject Accounting / Construction Finance
- Perform job cost accounting across multiple active construction projects
- Work directly with Project Managers and site teams to ensure accurate coding and tracking of job-related expenses
- Assist in project setup including budgets, cost codes, and prime contract entry
- Prepare, submit, and manage monthly AIA billing / AIA pay applications
- Create and manage prime contract billing and bank draw submissions
- Maintain accurate WIP (Work-in-Progress) entries and job cost reporting
- Track and support change events, change orders, and forecast updates
- Manage lien waivers and ensure proper documentation is collected and filed
- Support AP and AR workflow across all projects
- Assist with full-cycle month-end close
, including account reconciliations - Assist with payroll processing (up to ~50 employees)
- Support 1099 preparation and vendor compliance
- Assist with inventory-related tracking and reporting as needed
- Create and maintain project and financial reporting using Quick Books and Procore
- Support the Controller with cash flow forecasting and reporting
We’re looking for someone who has real-world experience in construction or real estate accounting — including exposure to:
- Land development
- Vertical construction
- Single-family residential
- Multifamily or commercial projects
The best fit for this role is someone who:
- Has experience with AIA billing and bank draws
- Understands job cost accounting and WIP reporting
- Has worked directly with Project Managers and site teams
- Takes initiative, digs into problems, and helps improve processes
- Wants to grow and take on increasing responsibility over time
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Construction, real estate, or project-based accounting strongly preferred
- Experience with AIA billing
, job costing, and WIP is a major plus
- Experience with Quick Books preferred
- Experience with Procore strongly preferred
