Principal Accountant

We are looking for a Principal Accountant to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Accountant to serve as a senior individual contributor within their accounting function. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining accounting policies, and supporting close and audit processes. The position is hybrid, with a regular onsite presence in Downtown Columbus.

• Own and oversee complex general ledger activities, including month‑end and year‑end close
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Serve as a technical accounting resource, researching and applying accounting guidance as needed
• Support internal and external audit requests and documentation
• Assist with process improvements and accounting best practices
• Collaborate with finance, operations, and leadership teams to support reporting needs
• Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Advanced experience with general ledger management and financial reporting
• CPA preferred but not required
• High attention to detail with the ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills and comfort working cross‑functionally
• Experience in a fast‑paced corporate environment is a plus
