Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager
A mission‑driven organization seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations and lead core financial processes across the organization. The Accounting Manager will maintain accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and support organizational planning while working closely with senior leadership and external partners to ensure strong financial stewardship and compliance.
Responsibilities- Own and execute the month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Perform and review account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all balance‑sheet and income‑statement accounts.
- Manage accounts payable and payroll administration, ensuring timely processing, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, management reporting, and supporting schedules.
- Complete grant and donor reporting, including preparation of financial reporting required by funders and stakeholders.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies to support compliance and financial integrity.
- Coordinate the annual audit process, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors and preparing requested documentation.
- Support preparation of Form 990 reporting and assist with other compliance‑related filings.
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support financial planning and decision‑making.
- Monitor cash flow and cash management activities, including short‑term forecasting and banking coordination.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and reporting.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to support organizational initiatives and ensure financial accuracy across departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong ownership of the full accounting cycle.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting practices and GAAP.
- Experience with nonprofit, association, healthcare, education, or other mission‑driven organizations preferred.
- Familiarity with grant accounting and Form 990 preparation strongly preferred.
- Must have experience in Quick Books and advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate across departments.
