Fortune 500 Industry leader is looking for a Lead Accountant to serve as a senior member of the accounting team, overseeing key accounting functions, leading month-end close activities, reviewing work prepared by staff accountants, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role acts as a technical accounting resource, helps improve processes, and serves as a mentor to junior accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances
- Review work performed by Staff Accountants and provide guidance and training
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
- Coordinate external audits and support tax compliance activities
- Maintain and improve accounting processes, procedures, and controls
- Manage fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other key balance sheet accounts
- Partner with operational leaders and department managers to provide financial insight and support
- Assist with ERP implementations, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skill
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tool
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skill
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadline
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred
- Prior experience reviewing staff work or leading projects
- Manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, construction, or service industry experience depending on company needs
