Fortune 500 Industry leader is looking for a Lead Accountant to serve as a senior member of the accounting team, overseeing key accounting functions, leading month-end close activities, reviewing work prepared by staff accountants, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role acts as a technical accounting resource, helps improve processes, and serves as a mentor to junior accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances
  • Review work performed by Staff Accountants and provide guidance and training
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
  • Coordinate external audits and support tax compliance activities
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes, procedures, and controls
  • Manage fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other key balance sheet accounts
  • Partner with operational leaders and department managers to provide financial insight and support
  • Assist with ERP implementations, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skill
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tool
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skill
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadline
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred
  • Prior experience reviewing staff work or leading projects
  • Manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, construction, or service industry experience depending on company needs
