Schedule:

Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 base salary, with some flexibility for the right person

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

We’re supporting a search for a Lead Payroll Administrator / Payroll Supervisor with a stable, growing organization in the Columbus market. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys owning process, keeping teams organized, and making sure critical payroll-related deadlines and deliverables are executed accurately and on time.

This role is ideal for a payroll professional who likes to operate at the center of the action, coordinating payroll inputs, managing workflow, supporting a team, and driving consistency across key processes. While this is not a true end-to-end payroll processing role, prior full-cycle payroll experience would be highly valued.

You’ll join a collaborative environment with strong leadership, a hybrid schedule, and the chance to make a visible impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

This role will serve as a key point of coordination for payroll administration, timekeeping, reporting, and process execution. The right person will bring a strong sense of ownership, urgency, organization, and follow-through.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing weekly and biweekly payroll-related workflows to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met accurately and on time
  • Preparing and submitting payroll files and supporting documentation to the parent company for final payroll processing
  • Leading day-to-day payroll administration activities for a team and helping prioritize work effectively
  • Tracking employee timesheets, paid time off, holiday pay, and related payroll inputs
  • Monitoring payroll processes and standard operating procedures to help ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance
  • Responding to employee payroll questions and resolving issues in a timely, professional manner
  • Researching payroll discrepancies, troubleshooting errors, and coordinating corrections as needed
  • Supporting labor reporting and preparing recurring reports for leadership review
  • Helping manage certified payroll reporting processes and related deadlines
  • Maintaining payroll records, files, and supporting documentation in an organized and audit-ready manner
  • Managing and updating payroll and timekeeping information within relevant payroll and workforce systems
  • Oversee process for tracking vacation and holiday pay according to company policy.
  • Manage online time and attendance software for administrative employees.
  • Providing reporting, documentation, and support for audits and internal requests
  • Serving as a key liaison between the local team and parent company payroll support functions
  • Assisting with additional payroll, administrative, and process improvement initiatives as needed
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who combines payroll knowledge with strong project management instincts and leadership ability. This person should be comfortable coordinating multiple moving pieces, keeping people on track, and ensuring payroll-related work gets completed accurately and on schedule.

Preferred Background
  • 5+ years of payroll experience
  • Experience leading payroll workflows, coordinating deadlines, and supporting or supervising payroll team members
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, timekeeping, PTO tracking, and payroll reporting
  • Prior exposure to full-cycle payroll processing is a plus, even if not required in this role
  • Familiarity with W-2 and 1099 reporting
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience working with payroll, HRIS, timekeeping, and/or accounting systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Management, or related experience preferred
What You’ll Gain
  • A visible role with meaningful ownership and leadership responsibility
  • Hybrid flexibility
  • The opportunity to help drive process, organization, and execution in a critical function
  • A stable platform within a larger organization
  • Strong exposure to payroll operations, reporting, and cross-functional coordination
  • A chance to step into a role where your ability to lead workflow and deliver results will be noticed
