Tax Manager – High Net Worth & Private Client Services

Our client, a well-established and highly respected public accounting firm in the Columbus area, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its growing Private Client (Stand-Alone) Tax Practice.

This specialized practice serves high net-worth individuals, business owners, investors, executives, and closely held businesses, providing sophisticated tax compliance and strategic planning services.

This position offers more than a traditional Tax Manager role. The ideal candidate will partner closely with firm leadership and play an integral role in shaping the future of the practice. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Strategic Planning Review and prepare complex individual income tax returns (Form 1040) and related tax filings.

Manage returns involving pass-through entities, trusts, partnerships, investments, rental properties, and multi-state taxation.

Deliver proactive tax planning strategies that minimize tax liabilities and maximize client value.

Research complex tax issues and provide practical solutions for clients.

Stay current on federal and state tax law changes affecting individual and business clients.

Client Advisory & Relationship Management Serve as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals and family groups.

Build and maintain long-term client relationships through exceptional service and communication.

Lead tax planning meetings and consult with clients throughout the year.

Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist clients with compliance matters.

Identify opportunities to provide additional advisory and tax planning services.

Practice Leadership & Business Growth Collaborate with firm leadership to support the continued growth of the Stand-Alone Tax Practice.

Help improve internal processes, workflows, and client service standards.

Participate in business development, networking, and referral activities.

Contribute ideas that enhance efficiency, profitability, and the overall client experience.

Assist in shaping the future vision and strategic direction of the practice.

Team Leadership & Development Mentor and develop tax staff and senior associates.

Review work product and provide coaching and constructive feedback.

Assist with training and onboarding new team members.

Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on professional growth and client service excellence.

Qualifications Education Bachelor 's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting is a plus.

Certifications Active CPA license preferred.

CPA candidates actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply.

Experience6+ years of public accounting tax experience.

Strong background reviewing complex individual and pass-through entity tax returns.

Experience providing tax planning and advisory services to high-net-worth individuals and business owners.

Proven leadership experience managing staff and client relationships.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.

Experience with Ultra Tax or similar tax preparation and workflow software is preferred.
