Senior Accountant - Winterset

Winterset Advisors LLC is a Columbus, Ohio-based advisory firm offering tax, accounting, and strategic financial services to individuals and closely held businesses. In 2025 the firm joined Archer Lewis, enhancing its capabilities while maintaining a client-focused culture.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to lead complex accounting and tax engagements, ensure quality and accuracy of deliverables, and support client relationships. The role serves as a technical resource and mentor to the accounting team and plays a key role in maintaining firm standards, improving processes, and supporting leadership initiatives.

• Prepare and review individual and business tax returns
• Oversee accounting matters and close processes
• Lead tax research and apply guidance to client-specific scenarios
• Support advanced tax planning and advisory work
• Review financial statements and reconciliations for accuracy and compliance

• Serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point for clients
• Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and improvements
• Communicate complex accounting and tax matters clearly to clients with senior team members execution

• Ensure compliance with firm standards, policies and deadlines
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentorship
• Review work prepared by Accountants and Staff Accountants
• Assist with onboarding and training of new members

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 2–5+ years of relevant combined accounting and tax experience in a local or regional CPA firm
• Proficiency in accounting and tax knowledge
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Ultra Tax) preferred
• CPA required
• Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to apply accounting principles and exercise professional judgment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including client interaction
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

• Base salary $80,000–85,000 plus discretionary bonus (dependent on experience)
