Maintains records of financial transactions, reconciles and balances accounts, verifies, and posts general ledger adjusting entries, and compiles schedules and reports. Our Staff Accountant understands and can train clerks in cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operations.
Duties / Responsibilities- Prepares and records general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP:
- Semi-monthly payroll and benefit allocation.
- Monthly investments.
- Daily donations received from Raisers Edge to Financial Edge daily.
- Monthly beneficial interest in funds held by others.
- Monthly bank charges.
- Maintain required documentation to ensure proper internal controls.
- Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual funder and financial reports
- Assist with accounting and financial requests from internal and external customers.
- Prepare various financial statements
- Reconciliation of various accounts held by the agency.
- Assist with sub ledger reconciliation for A/P and A/R.
- Assist in payroll review and payroll reports.
- Prepare the required information for the Trial Balance, Schedule of Released Funds, Schedule of Federal Grant Activity and statement of Functional expenses at year end.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Knowledge of fund accounting software, Financial Edge, preferred.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in accounting, non‑profit, preferred.
- Effective analytic, creative, evaluative, and advisory history.
- Ability to learn new software programs.
- Detail Oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Pass a BCI/FBI criminal background check and drug screening.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, strong working knowledge of Excel.

- Salary Range: $73,500 - $75,000 depending on qualifications
