Responsibilities POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sr Accountant I is responsible for managing complex spreadsheet-based processes and applying financial accounting concepts for the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. Specific tasks will vary by role but can include maintaining amortization schedules, reclassing between prepaid and accrued accounts, managing the account reconciliation process, forecasting and budgeting, collaborating with IT to develop financial systems, and maintaining clear lines of communication with both internal and external partners.

The Sr Accountant I is expected to complete these tasks with limited supervision and needs to be able to operate in a time-sensitive environment. The Sr Accountant I could work across one or more of the following functions:
Sales Audit, Lease, Inventory, Fixed Assets or Financial Reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage spreadsheet-based calculations for journal entries including amortization schedules, reclasses between prepaid and accrued accounts, receivable collection and evaluation, etc.
  • Manage account reconciliation process by analyzing balance sheet account balances and assembling clear support for activity.
  • Manage the consolidation process. Oversee and execute the full consolidation process for two companies, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets. Collaborate with Finance to identify variances and either provide explanations or post correcting entries.
  • Collaborate with IT department to correct systemic issues and ensure effective functioning of financial systems.
  • Identify and take ownership for process improvements. Update and maintain effective internal control processes and procedures.
  • Other essential tasks may occur as directed by your supervisor.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Ability to work and function independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks/assignments and consistently meet deadlines
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA a plus
  • Experience:

    5- 7 years experience in public accounting or corporate accounting preferably in Retail
CRITICAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
  • Possess practical experience/working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Ability to work in team environment and maintain positive cross functional relationships
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Organizational skills - ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other associates and outside vendors and maintain the highest level of company integrity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines

    Strong proficiency with Excel
  • Ability to learn and use corporate financial systems
