Tax Senior
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to lead tax compliance, preparation, review, and planning for a diverse portfolio of clients including individuals, partnerships, and corporations. The Tax Senior will manage complex returns (1040, 1120, 1065, 990) and serve high net worth individuals (HNWI), supervise junior staff, and ensure accurate, timely delivery using tax software such as Lacerte and accounting platforms like Quick Books.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, client communication skills, and the ability to identify tax-saving opportunities while maintaining compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals (1040), partnerships (1065), corporations (1120, C-Corp, S-Corp), tax-exempt organizations (990), and other business returns.
- Lead tax engagements from planning through delivery, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely filing.
- Supervise, mentor, and review work of junior tax staff and coordinate staffing and workflow for peak periods.
- Perform detailed tax research and analysis on complex tax issues, apply findings to client positions, and communicate results to engagement teams and clients.
- Provide tax planning and advisory services for high net worth individuals (HNWI), business owners, and partnerships to minimize tax liabilities and support financial goals.
- Prepare K-1s, statements, and supporting schedules; review partnership allocations and corporate subchapter S filings.
- Use Lacerte (Lacerte Tax), Quick Books, and other tax/accounting software to prepare returns, reconcile client records, and ensure data integrity.
- Coordinate and respond to IRS and state notices, support audits and tax examinations, and represent clients as appropriate (EA or CPA credential preferred).
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather necessary documentation, explain tax positions clearly, and deliver exceptional client service.
- Identify process improvements, help implement best practices and standardize workflows to improve efficiency and quality of deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
Masters in Tax or Accounting a plus. - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred or active pursuit of CPA credential;
Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is a plus. - Minimum 4-6 years of public accounting tax experience, with proven experience as a Tax Senior or similar role handling individual and business returns.
- Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing 1040, 1120, 1065, and 990 returns; familiarity with C-Corp and S-Corp tax matters.
- Proficiency with Lacerte (Lacerte Tax), Quick Books, and common Microsoft Office tools; ability to learn new tax software quickly.
- Strong technical knowledge of partnerships, corporations, and individual taxation, including experience with high net worth individuals (HNWI) and complex partnership allocations.
- Excellent review, preparatory, and quality control skills with acute attention to detail and deadline orientation.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and client relationship skills; ability to explain tax concepts to non-technical clients.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced public accounting environment during busy season and managing multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Ethical, organized, and committed to delivering high-quality work; experience with tax planning and client advisory services preferred.
