About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing and well-established construction company seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join their accounting team. This position will play a key role in managing project accounting activities, job costing, month-end close, and financial reporting for multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the construction industry and a strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP schedules, and project billing.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
Maintain accurate job cost records and analyze project performance against budgets.
Prepare and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
Assist with percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition calculations.
Process and track project billings, including AIA billing and retainage.
Reconcile construction contracts, change orders, and project commitments.
Support monthly financial statement preparation and management reporting.
Collaborate with project managers to review project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete estimates.
Maintain fixed asset schedules and construction-in-progress reporting.
Assist with year-end audits, tax support, and compliance requirements.
Analyze project variances and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, engineering, or project-based industries.
Strong understanding of:
Job Costing
Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting
Percentage-of-Completion (POC) Accounting
Revenue Recognition
Construction Billing Processes
Experience with construction ERPs such as Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, Sage 300 CRE, Spectrum, Procore, Foundation, or similar systems.
Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
CPA or CPA-track preferred.
Experience with multi-entity accounting.
Familiarity with union payroll or prevailing wage projects.
Experience supporting external audits and bonding company requirements.
Pay Details: $75,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
