Office of Employee and Business Services

The Office of Employee and Business Services (OEBS) provides customer service and operational support to ODJFS through five bureaus:
Business Services, Civil Rights and Labor Relations, Human Resources, Multimedia Services, and Training and Educational Services. OEBS customers include all ODJFS employees, clients, service providers, county agencies, and the public.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as the first point of contact at the agency’s front desk, providing professional and courteous assistance to staff, partners, and the public.
  • Support the Director’s learning initiatives (e.g., Topic of the Month), including list management and alignment with leadership priorities.
  • Support the Training & Educational Services bureau with administrative tasks that advance office and agency initiatives.
  • Handle confidential information responsibly and maintain accurate, complete records.
Day‑to‑Day Tasks
  • Welcome and assist all Director’s Office floor visitors, verify identification, and escort individuals to secure locations in accordance with safety and security protocols.
  • Answer, route, and triage incoming calls in alignment with agency service standards.
  • Maintain front desk procedures, call trees, and visitor‑management checklists.
  • Manage lists, communications, resources, and reports for bi‑monthly learning initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support to Training and Educational Services.
Necessary Skills
  • Strong customer‑service skills with the ability to professionally engage internal and external visitors.
  • Excellent communication skills, including call‑handling and written communication.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy across record‑keeping, documentation, and compliance.
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety and security protocols consistently.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Competence in supporting administrative, training, and program‑coordination activities.
Schedule and Hours

Full‑time. Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Travel

Occasional travel within the state of Ohio.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 10. Starting salary is the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, $26.92 per hour). With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost‑of‑Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year.

  • Step 2 – $28.40 per hour ($59,072 annual)
  • Step 3 – $29.93 per hour ($62,254 annual)
  • Step 4 – $31.66 per hour ($65,853 annual)
  • Step 5 – $33.35 per hour ($69,368 annual)
Qualifications

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

  • Option 1:
    Completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from an accredited career school or community college; and 12 months experience in secretarial/administrative professional field.
  • Option 2: 30 months experience or 30 months training in secretarial/administrative professional field.
  • Option 3: 12 months experience as Administrative Professional 2, 16872.
  • Option 4:
    Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
