Job Title: Student Life Disability Services Accommodation Assistant
Department: Student Life | Disability Services
DutiesThe Access Assistant provides accommodations and support in navigating virtual and physical spaces or workplace systems that are not easily accessible due to visual impairment. Assists staff with general clerical and administrative duties; handles sensitive information in a confidential manner including:
- Assists in navigating physical and/or virtual spaces;
- Reads or describes documents and other work-related materials;
- Sorts, summarizes and converts print materials to accessible formats;
- Summarizes, downloads, and converts inaccessible online documents and information supporting accommodation reviews and decision making;
- Assists in the navigation and retrieval of information in the student information system;
- Navigates and scribes inaccessible forms (e.g. graduate admissions and licensure exams accommodation verification from, time keeping);
- Visual formatting and proofing of emails, presentation materials, and reports;
Required: High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience; 1 year of proven administrative or accommodation assistant experience; 6 months experience (600 hours training) using computers to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex; 6 months experience (600 hours course work) in office practices and procedures; 6 months experience (600 hours course work) in customer service;
3 months experience (300 hours training) in use of word processing equipment. Successful completion of a background check.
Desired: 2-4 years experience, knowledge of office management systems and procedures; excellent time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize work; excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and planning skills; proficient in MS Office 365 and social media platforms; demonstrated ability to work optimally with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, abilities, cultures, and backgrounds.
AdditionalInformation
Targeted hiring range is $15.86 - $20.74 per hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the selected candidate’s qualifications.
