The primary responsibility of this position is to assist buyers with the coordinating of activities involved with the procuring of goods and services such as products, equipment, and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists buyers and other Purchasing personnel in researching and answering order questions, expediting and documenting purchase order deliveries. Prepares drop shipment purchase orders and submits to suppliers. Assists buyers in preparing purchase orders and faxing them to suppliers. Inputs and maintains current vendor costs in pricing database. Maintains item records and builds new products, vendor data, notes, etc. Confirms purchase order confirmations and follows up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery.

Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; or two years related experience and/or training.

OTHER SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Ability to maintain strong vendor relation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to be organized, thorough and accurate. Able to work independently or within a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel. Type proficiently 35-45 wpm. Business attire for business setting with good personal hygiene habits.

QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to managers, leaders, associates of the organization, vendors and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Must possess decision making skills.
