Brief Description
The Buyer will support the organization’s procurement and supply chain operations through purchase order management, inventory planning, supplier coordination, and cost optimization activities. This role is responsible for ensuring product availability, monitoring supplier performance, and supporting operational goals through effective purchasing practices and supply chain analysis.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Duties/Responsibilities Procurement & Inventory Management- Create and manage purchase orders based on inventory levels, forecasts, and lead times. Monitor inventory levels and safety stock to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Track supplier production schedules and shipment timelines to ensure on-time delivery. Maintain accurate purchasing records including pricing, quantities, lead times, and order status updates.
- Monitor sales and inventory trends to recommend replenishment actions.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding order status, production schedules, and shipment updates.
- Participate in supplier review meetings and support supplier performance improvement initiatives.
- Escalate supply risks and help implement corrective actions to minimize disruptions.
- Assist with forecasting, inventory analysis, and demand planning activities.
- Develop and maintain Excel-based reporting tools and data analysis models.
- Ensure ERP/MRP system data integrity including item master, supplier information, pricing, and purchasing data.
- Assist with other supply chain and procurement-related duties as assigned.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly with cost-benefit analysis.
- Ability to prioritize tasks as appropriate.
- Highly Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, especially Excel.
- Proficiency in navigating a system to find PO status, order history, and item details; familiarity with Net Suite is a ‘plus’.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of related experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or consumer products environments preferred
- Experience with international suppliers and long lead-time supply chains is a plus.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
