Scope of Position
The department of Operations Improvement is located at Ackerman Building, 660 Ackerman Road. Projects will entail travel to anywhere in the James and Ohio State University Medical Complex. Working hours are primarily from 8:00am to 5:00pm, but may shift for specific projects, such as facilitating a process improvement team at 7:00am or 6:00pm, or performing value stream map observation on night shift.
Supervisory responsibilities include up to three Fisher Student Interns.
Provide operational assessments, efficiency studies, and observations of workflow to ensure effective utilization of resources within The James. This includes evaluating the impact of new technology, office layouts, and construction plans on operations, supporting the continuous improvement efforts of The James, and participating in the development of educational services. Facilitate process improvement teams to achieve improved operational performance and support development of tools and processes used in process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, process improvement, business operations management, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in continuous improvement.
- Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of databases, computer software, spreadsheets, and graphics.
- Green Belt certification preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
