The Consultant, Competitive Intelligence for Life and Long-Term Care is a sales‑facing individual contributor role responsible for turning industry, competitor, and market information into clear, actionable insights for business partners. This role monitors carrier and product developments across the life and LTC marketplace, compiles and interprets industry data, and applies competitive knowledge to real business situations. This associate serves as a trusted resource for sales, product, and leadership teams by helping them understand competitor positioning, market shifts, and Nationwide’s relative strengths and opportunities.
The role requires strong industry knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex information into practical recommendations, competitive case support, and compelling market stories for a range of audiences.
- Monitor life and long‑term care competitor products, carriers, product changes, underwriting practices, pricing trends, distribution developments, and broader industry activity.
- Represent Nationwide to other carrier partners through broader industry organizations.
- Develops market trend reports and industry data summaries tailored to varied audiences, using the appropriate level of detail and format, including presentations, newsletters, and quick‑turn business updates.
- Compile, organize, validate, and analyze competitive and industry data from internal and external sources to support business decisions.
- Develop clear points of view on Nationwide’s market position, including where we lead, where we are competitive, and where gaps or risks may exist.
- Support sales and distribution partners with timely, relevant, and practical competitive intelligence that can be used in the field.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to leadership on industry trends, competitor moves, emerging risks, and implications for Nationwide.
- Build and maintain competitive intelligence resources, competitor profiles, market summaries, and recurring reporting that improve access to actionable insights.
- Partner closely with product, sales, advanced consulting, strategy, and other internal stakeholders to align intelligence with business priorities.
- Respond to ad hoc requests with thoughtful analysis, clear recommendations, and an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Serve as a knowledgeable voice on the life and LTC competitive landscape and represent the function with credibility across business discussions.
