The Emergency Funds & Fiscal Compliance Specialist manages the comprehensive financial administration, strategic assessment, compliance reporting, and advancement research for all student emergency funds and resource accounts administered by the Student Advocacy Center (SAC). A core objective of this position is managing a robust operational partnership with the Monda Student Resource Center (MSRC). This position works in tandem with the MSRC team and other university units to streamline emergency funding pipelines, establish multi-directional referral frameworks, and manage the triage and processing of financial allocations for students facing urgent essential needs gaps.

This role operates independently within university internal controls and collaborates deeply with Student Financial Aid, Student Life Business and Finance, the Center for the Study of Student Life, University Advancement, and various campus and community partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, data analytics, public administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience managing financial allocations, fund administration, grant accounting, or advanced data management.
  • Demonstrated experience handling highly confidential material and processing secure financial transactions within strict compliance frameworks (e.g., FERPA, internal fiscal controls).
  • Advanced technical proficiency with database systems, student information systems, and data-manipulation tools (specifically Microsoft Excel functions, pivot tables, data formulas, and Access).
  • Excellent written communication skills with specific experience in grant reporting, technical documentation, or executive presentation building.
  • Strong organizational skills and the verified ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment where student situations require prompt, empathetic, and decisive action.
  • Successful completion of background check.

Desired

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or professional certifications in financial management, public policy, social data analytics, or higher education administration.
  • Direct experience operating within higher education enterprise systems, specifically Ohio State’s Workday financial modules, financial aid interface tools, and e-Request architectures.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Student Advocacy practices and basic needs infrastructure in a university setting.
  • Verifiable experience navigating or reporting for federal compliance mandates (e.g., Clery Act reporting framework, federal grant administration).
  • Proficiency with Maxient software or similar student conduct/advocacy case management databases.
  • Previous experience supporting institutional advancement or development pipelines via data provisioning or grant drafting
