Description

The Day Camp Counselor provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Counselors are cause-driven, dynamic members of the YMCA summer team who plan and execute camp programs and assist in creating a safe, active and fun environment.

Seasonal:
Full Time and Part Time Hours (25-40 hours/week). Training begins the week of May 18. Camp ends no later than August 14. Exact dates vary by location.

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, STEAM activities
• Previous experience working with school-age children, preferably in a day camp or child care setting.
• Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, AED, O2 certifications, and YMCA Child Abuse Prevention training must be completed to start of summer day camp program.
• ODJFS Orientation to Day Camp training and ODJFS Child Abuse Prevention training must be completed within 30 days of hire date.
