Job Summary

The MEP Superintendent is responsible for the daily operation of a job site, including scheduling, production, procurement of materials, manpower, equipment, and supervision of all direct labor. The role oversees contracted work to ensure successful project completion.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Study specifications to plan construction procedures based on timing and staffing requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to set schedules, develop look‑ahead plans, and identify potential issues.
  • Coordinate pre‑construction meetings with the Project Manager before mobilization.
  • Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
  • Ensure all team members are informed of construction issues and progress through regular meetings with supervisory personnel, craft teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Work with supervisory staff and labor representatives to resolve grievances within the workforce.
  • Consult with engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to solve construction problems and improve methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to verify conformity to specifications and schedules.
  • Manage the project based on progress reports, material usage, and costs, adjusting schedules as needed (new construction superintendents only).
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Craft Resources to optimize personnel allocation, manage labor costs, and enforce company staffing policies.
  • Assist the project manager in preparing the Project Management Plan.
  • Implement company policies on safety, equal opportunity, quality standards, and housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a construction‑related field, or equivalent with at least 5 years of commercial construction experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
  • Strong MEP background on tenant improvement construction projects.
  • BIM coordination knowledge and proven healthcare experience.
  • Understanding of building codes, design requirements, and accurate blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor scopes and tolerances.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
    Spanish proficiency preferred.
  • Finish carpentry skills relevant to commercial interior work.
  • Administrative skills to monitor progress and coordinate activities.
  • Management skills to supervise and follow up on delegated assignments.
  • Integrity and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Professional appearance and conduct.
  • Initiative and self‑starter attitude.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and office applications.
  • Knowledge of and use of CMiC preferred.
  • Project experience with hospitals/medical facilities ≥$10 million.
