Overview

The MEP Sr. Superintendent will oversee and manage all day‑to‑day MEP job site activities, ensuring project team performance, site conditions, safety and quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of trade partners.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee, manage, and document day‑to‑day MEP job site activities, including OSHA safety compliance.
  • Direct field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolk supervisory principles.
  • Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager.
  • Report problems promptly to facilitate cost‑effective solutions.
  • Establish effective working relationships with clients and Suffolk team members.
  • Request advice and assistance from the General Superintendent on materials, sequencing, scheduling, and personnel.
  • Participate in Project Start‑Up/Turnover Meetings: identify pre‑mobilization activities; develop start‑up schedule and review with stakeholders.
  • Assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules in the field.
  • Establish and implement the Project Baseline Schedule based on contracts and subcontractor input.
  • Maintain schedule, ensuring work performed meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Update Project Schedule monthly and provide progress reports with a two‑week look‑ahead.
  • Ensure subcontractors participate in a safety pre‑construction meeting and provide required documentation.
  • Review daily project activities for compliance with OSHA, governing requirements, and site safety plans.
  • Assess safety performance using reports and injury data; communicate expectations to teams.
  • Conduct safety inspections using predictive solutions software per SCCI safety program.
  • Adhere to all Suffolk safety program requirements.
  • Insert project benchmarks into the baseline schedule; manage Q‑Team membership and inspections.
  • Handle site pre‑construction, mobilize the field office, and manage job site utilities and staging plans.
  • Document and report site activities, manage excavations, and assist with Job Site Utilization Plan.
  • Attend and chair project meetings, including mobilization, coordination, safety, schedule reviews, closeout, owner and subcontractor meetings.
  • Maintain construction office checklists, emergency phone lists, daily reports, logs, and shop drawings.
  • Manage quality and condition of material deliveries; maintain safety reporting and required files.
  • Ensure as‑built drawings, drawing log, and revision log are updated and communicated to subcontractors.
  • Oversee project closeout activities: subcontractor closeout, utility transfers, owner training, work lists, and punch lists.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline and/or related work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in related construction fields.
  • Ability to manage and embrace change, respond and adapt to new processes.
  • Applicable area licenses.
  • Excellent team development skills and leadership abilities.
  • Strong partnership ability with Project Manager and staff.
  • Commitment to excellence, self‑motivation, and confidence.
  • Effective communication skills.

Working Conditions

The role requires sitting for long periods, using a keyboard and phone, frequent standing, walking, and reaching with arms. The work environment includes office settings with moderate noise levels and job‑site walking. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
