Position: Assistant Superintendent (Travel)

As an Assistant Superintendent, you will play a critical supporting role in the success of our project sites, helping drive day‑to‑day construction operations with precision, organization, and accountability. Working closely with the Superintendent, you will help coordinate field activities,maintain safety and quality standards, and ensure work progresses efficiently across all phases of construction.

Key Responsibilities

Support Field Operations: Assist the Superintendent in coordinating daily on‑site construction activities. Help facilitate communication between project teams, subcontractors, architects, and engineers to ensure alignment and efficiency.

Assist with Scheduling & Planning: Support the development and maintenance of project schedules. Help track progress, identify potential delays, and coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and labor needs.

Field Coordination: Work closely with subcontractors to ensure work is performed according to schedule, contract documents, and quality expectations. Help manage sequencing of trades and daily workflow.

Safety Support: Promote and enforce site‑specific safety plans in partnership with the Superintendent. Conduct safety walks, assist with orientations, and help ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company standards.

Quality Assurance: Assist in monitoring workmanship to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. Participate in inspections, punch lists, and documentation of completed work.

Problem Resolution: Help identify and escalate project issues, including design clarifications, material shortages, and coordination conflicts. Work with the Superintendent to support timely solutions.

Site Logistics Support: Assist in managing site conditions, including layout coordination, material staging, site cleanliness, and temporary facilities to maintain an organized and productive jobsite.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily reports, track quantities, document progress, and support record‑keeping for inspections, deliveries, and subcontractor activities.

Compliance Assistance: Support the Superintendent in ensuring permits, inspections, and required documentation are maintained and up to date. Assist with coordination of inspectors and local agencies.

Cost Awareness: Help monitor field production and resource usage to support budget adherence. Assist in tracking labor productivity and subcontractor progress.

Environmental & SWPPP Support: Assist with stormwater and environmental compliance efforts, including inspections and documentation under the direction of the Superintendent.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Physical Demands
  • Navigate active construction sites, including climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces when necessary
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Maintain visual and auditory awareness of site hazards (e.g., alarms, machinery)
  • Stand, stoop, crouch, and walk for extended periods
  • Primarily field‑based on active construction sites
  • Regular exposure to weather elements, loud noise, moving machinery, and airborne particles
  • Must be comfortable working in high‑risk and high‑intensity environments
  • Appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and provided
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in building construction or related field
  • Prior field experience with a general contractor strongly preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and hands‑on experience considered
  • Working knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Basic understanding of layout, line and grade, and surveying concepts preferred
  • Familiarity with cost tracking and field reporting practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exposure to construction management software (e.g., Procore or similar platforms) preferred
