The Role
The Senior Superintendent plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed safely, on time, and within budget. This position requires strategic leadership to coordinate multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior Superintendent is responsible for developing detailed project schedules, monitoring progress, and proactively addressing any issues that may impact project delivery.
This role demands a hands‑on approach to problem-solving and decision-making to optimize resources and workflows on‑site. Ultimately, the Senior Superintendent ensures the successful delivery of complex construction projects that meet client expectations and company objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in construction supervision, with at least 3 years in a senior superintendent or equivalent role.
- Proven track record managing large commercial or infrastructure construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or OSHA Safety Certification.
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices and LEED certification processes.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in multi-site or multi-project environments.
- Advanced training in conflict resolution, negotiation, or project risk management.
- Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain project timelines and quality.
