CTL Engineering is hiring ODOT prequalified Inspectors for roadway/bridge projects!

CTL Engineering ( ) is an award winning, full service consulting engineering firm with (15) locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA with a rich history over our (99) years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical,
construction administration & inspection
, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for ODOT prequalified Inspectors who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration, inspection and testing services for ODOT bridge and roadway projects in Central Ohio. You’ll leverage your expertise in construction inspection/testing and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.

Highlights:
  • This position works independently on broad projects under direction of a Dept. Manager.
  • Projects are typically in the greater Central Ohio region. Frequent travel within this region is expected.
  • A stipend for personal vehicle use or a company vehicle may be provided, based on the assignment.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
  • Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
  • Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects.
  • Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
  • Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
  • Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
  • Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
  • Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
  • Experience with materials and lab testing.
  • Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications.
  • Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
  • Understanding of construction or engineering services.
  • Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
  • Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records.
  • Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability of monitoring construction and demolition environments.
  • Must be able to interact well with others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
  • Ability to provide status updates independently.
  • Be quality-minded and client-focused.
