The Broadcast Educational Media Commission seeks to expand the knowledge of Ohio's citizens through promotion of educational broadcasting products, funding of the state's broadcast affiliates and organizations, and collaboration with stakeholders and advocates of technology-driven education.

Job Description

This Broadcasting Engineer role at the Broadcast Educational Media Commission is responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor scheduled programming and signal transmissions for Ohio’s public television stations and The Ohio Channel, while coordinating with coworkers and station staff to ensure the successful distribution of broadcast programming.
  • Operate broadcast control software and systems to manage scheduled media, including editing daily broadcast logs, adjusting local server media metadata, and routing broadcast program content from the national PBS network, The Ohio Channel, Deutsche Welle, The Classic Arts Showcase, and other live programming sources utilized by Ohio’s public television stations.
  • Document discrepancies and technical issues that affect or interrupt the statewide distribution of public television broadcasts, ensuring accurate reporting and rapid support for system integrity.

Qualifications

Experience or training in broadcasting, broadcasting software, or traffic software, including familiarity with television automation systems and media production software

At least one year of experience in a broadcasting environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows.

AND one of the following:

  • 24 months of experience in communication work focused on television engineering techniques.
  • OR 9 courses OR 24 months of training in broadcast automation systems; control and operation of telecommunications systems; video editing; customer service; communications and media; electronic mail software (email); ITSM or service desk platforms (e.g., Zoho Manage Engine, Service Now); data entry.
  • OR Completion of a two‑year program in broadcasting, media arts, or media communications.
  • OR Equivalent to the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment listed above
