STRS Ohio is seeking a Graphic Production Specialist to join the Executive/ Communications and Public Affairs team. Compensation: $28.16 - $31.68/ hr.
Work Schedule:
8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday (Onsite)
Under the direction of the manager, Visual Communications, perform graphic production work for visual communications materials, including digital printing, finishing, distribution and delivery. Complete basic graphic design work to update or make minor modifications to publications. Coordinate outsourced printing and mailing projects, monitor production quality and maintain accurate mailing and project logs.
Summary of Responsibilities- Operate black-and-white and color digital presses and related auxiliary and finishing equipment using industry-standard production tools and processes.
- Create and maintain process and procedure manuals.
- Update and maintain the Communications Job Tracking System (JTS) and project log, including opening and closing projects; recording project notes; establishing production quantities and due dates based on job history; and processing purchase orders for the Digital Copy Center.
- Coordinate the workflow of in-house projects according to job priorities and business needs, working with editorial, design and web teams.
- Prepare quarterly reports for management.
- Perform basic graphic design and production work to update existing publications or make minor modifications using approved templates, brand standards and established design direction.
- Prepare files for final production review and approval.
- Coordinate outside printing and mailing of communications and public affairs-related projects.
- Prepare specifications and release artwork to vendors.
- Ensure the Digital Copy Center provides exemplary service, operates in an ethical manner, and develops and produces effective, timely, appropriate and cost-effective communications, with high-quality standards.
- Manage inventory of paper stock and preprinted letterhead, toners and related supplies for digital copiers, finishing supplies and reorder levels.
- Prepare in-house mailings for Office Services, including sample packets, labels and envelopes.
- Maintain the mailing log and coordinate delivery to meet mailing deadlines.
- Oversee quality of outside print jobs; recommend reprints when necessary.
- Communicate approval to receive into Office Services inventory.
- Willingness to develop and maintain professional contacts and remain current on industry trends and issues.
- Assist in the budget process.
- Track unit expenses, initiate purchase orders and process invoices and associate reimbursements.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree in communications or related field preferred.
- Three to five years of relevant experience required.
- Thorough knowledge of Communications and Public Affairs department workflow processes, capabilities, methods and tools preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of print and digital production methods, fulfillment, mailing processes and supply procurement required.
- Knowledge of State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) operations, processes, benefits and services preferred.
- Functional knowledge of Mac and Windows platforms and working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat Pro to update templates and make minor modifications to publications.
- Familiarity with File Maker Pro and other industry-standard tools preferred.
- Excellent skills in grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading marks and sentence structure required.
