New Grads welcome!!! This position will work year‑long, two days a week, with the Roving Team.
Job Description
Summary:
Assists in providing dental care to pediatric patients by preparing treatment rooms, taking x‑rays, assisting dentists, and educating patients and parents.
- Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping.
- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positions instruments for dentist access; suctioning; passing instruments.
- Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient’s mouth.
- Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
Graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent, required.
Licensure RequirementLicensed to practice dental radiography in the State of Ohio within two weeks of hire, required.
Skills- Robust communication skills, required.
- Demonstrated ability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Ability to monitor nitrous oxide and patient after analgesia is administered.
Two years of experience as a chairside assistant, required.
Physical Requirements- OCCASIONALLY: Biohazard waste; climb stairs/ladder; cold temperatures; fume/gases/vapors; hot temperatures; lifting/carrying 21‑40 lbs; 41‑60 lbs; 61‑100 lbs; machinery; power tools; pushing/pulling 100+ lbs with assistance; 26‑40 lbs; 41‑60 lbs; 61‑100 lbs.
- FREQUENTLY: Bend/twist; flexing/extending of neck; lifting/carrying 11‑20 lbs; loud noises; pushing/pulling 0‑25 lbs; reaching above shoulder; sitting; squat/kneel; standing.
- CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech; blood and/or bodily fluids; chemicals/medications; color vision; communicable diseases and/or pathogens; computer skills; decision making; depth perception; hand use: grasping, gripping, turning; hearing acuity; interpreting data; lifting/carrying 0‑10 lbs; patient equipment; peripheral vision; problem solving; repetitive hand/arm use; seeing – far/near; walking. Additional physical requirements: potential for radiation exposure; demanding environment.
Will need to be able to multitask – talking on phone or in person constantly (67‑100%).
