Operating out of seven locations, we offer medical care (primary care, dental, vision, OB/GYN, telehealth), behavioral health care, 340B pharmacy, nutritional assistance programs, and more. Working hours are Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday morning coverage.

JOB SUMMARYA full-time position responsible for direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventative services to dental patients of the center. The Registered Dental Hygienist will also be responsible for providing appropriate oral health information to individuals and groups.

DUTIES RESPONSIBILITY
1. Demonstrates the ability to efficiently function in the business office.

Interacts with patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner

Processes patients on arrival, verifying and updating patient information

Processes patients prior to departure from the clinic and directing them to schedule next appointment, pay account balances, etc. in the absence of dental assistant or receptionist representative

Operates the computer system efficiently to complete daily tasks

Have the dentist perform a focused exam on scheduled patients

Helps maintain a list of all Dental Department patients, monitors patient flow, and assists the Dental Director, dentist(s), and dental assistant in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed RESPONSIBILITY
2. Demonstrates the ability to efficiently function in the clinical area while assisting in the delivery of oral care and patient care management

If first person to arrive, turn on computers, units, pump, and compressor. Same procedure is followed for turning off equipment at end of day Prepares operatory for patient treatment as per Dental Department protocols

Seats patients and records vital signs (i.e. Blood pressure, pulse, etc.)Make accurate periodontal entries in the patient chart

Obtain baseline oral hygiene assessment data based upon accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care Provides clinical oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, sealant application, and fluoride treatment consistent with accepted professional practices and standards in compliance with applicable state law and center’s clinical protocols

Records patient-hygienist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient, and treatment provided

Expose dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and law as well as Dental Department directive and protocol

Take impressions, as prescribed by the dentist

Pour up impressions with model plaster, as needed RESPONSIBILITY
3. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and accurately (both oral and written) with dental staff, patients, and general public and document accurately patient’s chart

Complete follow-up phone calls to patients for the dentist

Provide oral hygiene instructions (written and verbal) to scheduled patients

Document completely any encounters with patient/family

Documentation is legible and completed in a timely manner

Assists in the oral health management of all clinic patients

High school diploma or equivalent

Successful completion of a Dental Hygiene program at an accredited institution

Unrestricted active license to practice in the State of Ohio At least two years and a minimum of three thousand hours of experience in the practice of dental hygiene

Successfully completed a course approved by the state dental board in the identification and prevention of potential medical emergencies

Current CPR (BLS) certifications. ACLS preferred

Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred

Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges required
