Overview
Manages architectural and interior design projects by planning, organizing, and controlling project elements to ensure timely completion within budget and scope.
Responsibilities- Develop project scopes, plans, timelines, reports, and budgets.
- Manage project close‑out, final payment, records retention, and archiving.
- Organize cross‑functional project teams, coordinate and communicate with stakeholders, monitor progress, identify risks or issues, and take corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, NCH design requirements, and brand standards.
- Ensure projects are constructible and maintainable.
- Select and manage outside design firms for construction documentation.
- Conduct drawing reviews, obtain stakeholder feedback, and approve design changes.
- Prepare FFE lists and approve purchase orders and invoices in the purchasing process.
- Coordinate fit‑up and move‑management activities.
- Process construction documents through city and regulatory agencies for permits.
- Establish construction bid lists, solicit and review bids, conduct pre‑bid meetings, analyze bids, and award contracts.
- Monitor construction for compliance with contracts and documents.
- Monitor and approve project submittals, shop drawings, change directives, change orders, and pay requests.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or related discipline.
- Maintenance of professional license preferred.
- For interior design candidates: NCIDQ or EDAC certificate preferred.
- Three years of experience in building construction, interior design, hospital architecture, or related institutional experience preferred.
- Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, engineering principles, interior design, graphic design, and various construction methods.
- Broad understanding of materials, building systems, and product lifecycle.
- For interior design candidates: knowledge of furniture, fixtures, finishes, and corporate standards.
- Signage and way finding knowledge desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Strong understanding of general and subcontractor business relationships.
- Proficient in CAD; project scheduling software desirable.
- Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Familiarity with city, state, and national building codes and standards.
- For interior design candidates: graphic design (Adobe Illustrator) skills desirable.
- Occasionally: bend/twist, climb stairs/ladder, flex/extend neck; lift/carry 21–60 lbs; push/pull 41–100 lbs; reach above shoulder; squat/kneel.
- Frequently: lift/carry 11–20 lbs; push/pull 26–40 lbs.
- Continuously: audible speech; color vision; computer skills; decision making; depth perception; hand use (grasping, gripping, turning); hearing acuity; interpreting data; lift/carry 0–10 lbs; peripheral vision; problem solving; push/pull 0–25 lbs; repetitive hand/arm use; seeing – far/near; sitting; standing; walking.
