Position OverviewOutdoor Space Design is seeking a full-time Landscape Designer to join our growing studio in Columbus, Ohio. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients and the principal designer on a wide variety of high‑end residential projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about residential landscape design, possesses strong graphic and technical skills, and enjoys creating thoughtful outdoor environments that integrate architecture, planting, and craftsmanship.
The Landscape Designer will contribute to all phases of the design process, including concept development, landscape plans, planting design, hardscape design, construction documentation, and project observation.
Responsibilities- Develop creative and thoughtful design solutions for residential landscape projects
- Prepare conceptual plans, master plans, and presentation graphics
- Produce detailed planting plans and planting specifications
- Design hardscape elements including terraces, walks, walls, pools, outdoor living spaces, and garden structures
- Prepare construction drawings and complete AutoCAD documentation sets
- Assist with site analysis, field measurements, and project documentation
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, architects, and consultants throughout the design process
- Participate in project observation and construction administration as needed
- Maintain project schedules and assist with multiple active projects
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, including preparation and organization of complete construction documentation sets
- Strong hand graphics, sketching, and visual communication skills
- Knowledge of planting design and plant materials appropriate for the Midwest region
- Strong understanding of residential landscape construction and detailing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- 2+ years of residential landscape design experience
- Experience with high‑end residential projects
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch Up, Lumion, or similar visualization software
- Experience preparing construction details and specifications
- Knowledge of traditional garden design and residential site planning
- Work directly with the firm's principal designer
- Design exceptional residential landscapes throughout Ohio and beyond
- Participate in projects from initial concept through construction
- Enjoy meaningful creative responsibility within a collaborative studio environment
- Help shape the growth and future direction of a respected residential design practice
Compensation is competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
