Responsibilities
The BIM/CAD Designer is responsible for accurately preparing, revising, and maintaining detailed drawings and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software for various structural and building projects. This position ensures adherence to company CAD standards and timely, high‑quality delivery of materials that meet client and project requirements.
Key Tasks- Develop 2D and 3D drawings and models based on design specifications and markups.
- Ensure accuracy and adherence to company/client standards, codes, and project requirements.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of CAD files, templates, and standards.
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure on‑schedule, on‑budget delivery.
- Perform redline revisions and document updates.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design data across platforms.
- Support departmental goals through efficient and accurate production of drawings and models.
- Adhere to project timelines, budgets, and standards established by the department.
- Attend internal and project meetings as needed for coordination and consistency.
- Contribute to proposals, design presentations, and other client-facing materials that support company growth.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to client or project manager needs quickly.
- Ensure projects are completed accurately and on time through organized documentation and coordination.
- Assist in developing templates, tools, or methods that improve accuracy or reduce production time.
- Assist in updating standards, workflows, or documentation that improve project delivery.
- Apply knowledge of CAD software and tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Micro Station) to produce professional construction documents.
- Stay current with evolving CAD software, tools, and drafting techniques.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining company CAD standards.
- Review work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards before submittal.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and correct drawing discrepancies.
- Participate in QA/QC processes to maintain consistency across all drawings.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating with peers and engineers.
- Maintain professional communication and uphold company policies and values.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Annual training programs that support company objectives and employee growth.
- Participate in training opportunities to enhance CAD proficiency and stay current with technology.
Assumes responsibilities for special assignments delegated by management to support business or departmental needs.
Education And Experience- Associate degree in Computer‑Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant drafting experience in an engineering environment.
- Demonstrated experience in AutoCAD, Revit, Micro Station, and reading/interpreting engineering/architectural drawings.
- Strong problem‑solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Essential functions of the position:
Physical Demands: Sedentary role with standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and hearing required. Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Office Environment: Professional office environment during regular business hours, collaborative nature requires presence in office.
Overtime: May be necessary as workloads dictate, including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
Travel / Field Exposure: Some travel may be required. Employee may occasionally be exposed to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, outside weather, or risk of electrical shock during site visits.
