Department:
The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center. Position is a full-time clinical or clinician-scientist role in Ocular Oncology within the Retina Division of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Ohio State University is seeking applicants for a full-time clinical or clinician-scientist position in Ocular Oncology. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care, research, and education in Ocular Oncology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Duties And Responsibilities

The Division Director and/or Department Chair determines work assignments. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of faculty responsibilities, with or without the presence of a trainee. There will be opportunities to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and education initiatives in consultation with the Department Chair.

Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching involving medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. Service commitments include service at OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions and involvement in local, regional, or national professional organizations are expected.

Requirements
  • Due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. citizenship is required for participation in this role.
  • Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment and be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Qualified candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology, as well as subspecialty fellowship training in Retina.
  • Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of Ocular Oncology.
  • Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery by evidence of basic and/or clinical applied research and publications.
  • Commitment to residents, fellows, and medical students is required.
